I suffer with two main problems with my makeup, it look dry and crumbly in patches and then sliding off in my oily areas. So for me if I didn’t use a primer the foundation around my T-zone would disappear by midday and the makeup on the rest of my face would stick and emphasise my dry skin. For those of you who aren’t yet clued up on primer, it’s a product to be used on clean skin; either after, or instead of moisturiser dependent on the product. A good primer should create a solid base for makeup application and prolong the wear of your makeup.

It Smooth’s The Skin

Start by cleansing your face and then use primer before your makeup, it’ll smoothen your skin, erase bumps and lumps and help you apply super flawless foundation!

Lessens Acne Appearance
If you suffer from acne, makeup primers can help lessen the appearance. While they don’t help fight acne, they do help conceal it better and more subtly than concealer, though I’d suggest still using that after you apply primer.

It Seals Pores
Primer works to smooth your pores, it creates an even surface on top of your skin for foundation to glide onto, but you can also use it without any other makeup just to make your skin appear smoother.

Their Lightweight
If you’re worried about a makeup primer making you feel like you have a mask on, don’t! They create a nice, soft finish to the skin that’s almost like a velvety, super soft lotion. Your skin will feel lighter with a makeup primer.

It’s Not Irritant
If you need something lightweight that covers your skin and gives you a healthy glow, most primers are non-comedogenic which means they won’t irritate your skin or clog your pores. Make sure the primer you pick up is also non-comedogenic or doesn’t have any acids that strip away the natural acids of your skin.

Do you use a primer? What primer do you use?
